About Us: Able & Ready Transportation, Inc, is a locally, women owned wheelchair accessible non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) provider. We are currently seeking professional, courteous, helpful drivers who have compassion and take pride in what they do.
Position Summary: The driver will be responsible for the safe and timely loading, unloading, and transport of the wheelchair passengers that use our services. The ideal driver will exhibit a customer and safety mindset for every customer and every trip. The driver must also be willing and able to follow directions from upper management and be eager to learn new tasks and being willing to help our customers in the most professional way.

Responsibilities:

• Be punctual, able, and willing to handle variable workload.
• Perform required pre-trip vehicle and safety-equipment inspections.
• Safely load, unload, and secure wheelchair passengers using the vans’ ramp and required securement equipment prior to moving the van.
• Safely operate company wheelchair accessible vans in compliance with all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
• Transport passengers to assigned destinations in a courteous, timely, and safe manner.
• Follow assigned routes, schedules, dispatch instructions, and documentation procedures.
• Communicate respectfully with passengers, caregivers, medical personnel, dispatchers, and family members.
• Assist passengers in and out of the building, if needed.
• Never leave passengers in an unsafe or unauthorized situation.
• Maintain cleanliness of vans.
• Report any incidents, accidents, injuries, maintenance, or operational of equipment to management in a prompt manner. Depending on the severity of the incident it may need to be reported to management immediately.
• Provide fuel receipts and write the milage on the receipt.

Requirements:

• Must be a United States Citizen at least 25 years of age
• Maintain a valid TN DL with F endorsement or CDL.
• Maintain a Clean Motor Vehicle Report.
• Passenger safety comes first.
• Drivers must never operate a vehicle while impaired by alcohol, illegal drugs, medications that make driving unsafe, or any other substance or condition that prevents safe vehicle operation.
• Drivers must not engage in unsafe or distracted driving. Mobile-device use while driving must comply with company policy and applicable law.
• Report on time to work each day as scheduled
• Confidently use the necessary technology in a safe and efficient manner to do their job effectively.
• Able to bend, stoop, reach, and lift a minimum of 30lbs. This includes the ability to correctly deploy and stow the vehicle equipped wheelchair ramp.
• Securely anchor each wheelchair in place with the 4-point wheelchair securement that are provided, also the lap belt/shoulder strap are required.
• There may be occasions where the passenger may need the assistance of a highly trained guide and/or service dog. The assistance dog is welcome and must remain under the control of its handler either with harness, leash, and/or voice cues or commands given only by the handler.
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
• Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service experience for every customer as set forth by management.
• Wear required work attire, including company provided shirt(s), black pants and black shoes.
• No open-toed shoes.
• Pre-employment background check drug-screen, as well as a TBI background check and fingerprinting which is required by the Metro Licensing Commission and BNA Nashville International Airport.
• If hired random drug tests will be conducted
• Ability to work flexible hours including days, nights, weekends, holidays as needed and multiple same day trips depending on the service needs of the customers.
• Maintain passenger privacy, dignity, and confidentiality
• Other duties as assigned
• Experience preferred but not required.
• All applicants/employees must be able to complete all required written documentation for permits etc. as well as on the job training as set forth by Able & Ready Transportation, Inc.

Benefits and Compensation

$25.00 per hour.

All employees who work six hours per day are required to be granted a 30-minute break.

All drivers are treated as W-2 employees

All hired employees are required to utilize Direct Deposit at a brick-and-mortar bank/credit union.
